Am 25. März 2026 hat sich die IBM Controller User Group DACH virtuell zusammengefunden. Neben dem Austausch zu aktuellen Herausforderungen und dem Teilen von Wissen aus Projekten stand auch die Verbesserung des IBM Controller im Fokus. Die Gruppe hat eine Reihe wichtiger Verbesserungsvorschläge zusammengetragen und bei IBM als Ideas eingereicht.

Import specification in web with at least same level of functionality as in classic
Data import: functions / operations, such as in CCR Classic for definition of import specification; Import spec should at least be as powerful as in Classic.
At the same time there should be low barrier / self service access to import functionality for reporting site users – as in Controller Web today. Possibility to centrally define import specifications and distribute to certain users to be used in Web.
Expand description field for Import of journals in Controller Web
Import journals in Web allows only 65 characters in description => please extend to number of digits available in Journal Entry (Controller Classic+Web) so that imported descriptions do not get cut-off.
IC reconciliation with the possibility to show differences in transaction currency only
In Controller Web IC reconciliation should include a filter to show differences in transaction currency only. This should be available on company and group level.
Include/exclude certain IC eliminations from reconciliation
In configuration of IC it should be possible to exclude certain journal numbers from reconciliation to increase transparency for the user.
Database administration features also for on premise installations
Administration of databases (as available for cloud users) would be helpful for on premise installations (would be nice to see what date a database is from, i.e. when the backup was restored …).
Show clear error message when entering invalid dates in investment register
While using the new function of locking investment register for the past: if user enters an invalid date from the past, it will just disappear. There is no message or anything being shown. That is not user friendly, because there could be all sorts of reasons, why the entry is not accepted. Please add a more speaking error message.
Keep web data entry benefits – co-existence of web and Excel-like data entry
Please do not exchange data entry web with Excel! We do not want to lose the benefits of dynamic search and filter functions in data entry. Both possibilities should co-exist.

Print format / report book option for Web data entry forms
It should be possible to create a printable output for all forms in a submission, e.g. as in report books in Controller Classic today. This is especially required during year end audit to confirm the reporting package.
Possibility of reporting package, that can be published out of Controller Web; could be a step after submission and save the form set of the respective submission as PDF. Or part of the reporting tab.
Export of free forms (Excel-Export)
Export of free forms to Excel should be possible as already available for standard forms.
Data entry forms with drilldown and filter functionality
Data entry form should have a drilldown and filter functionality. For example if a form is created like a trial balance this will allow the user to directly use this as a dynamic report at the same time.
Read-only for opening balances in data entry
It should be possible to lock opening balances for data entry in web.
Change date format for easier data entry
It would be much easier and quicker to enter periods in web if the format would be YYYY-MM instead of YYYY:MM. Would save time using the number keyboard.
Definition of warnings in addition to errors
It would be helpful if warning rules could be defined. E.g. for issues being not plausible or reconciliations which are not relevant for the closing. Possibility to define additional check rules which would then appear in yellow in the reconciliation tab.
Custom reports in Controller web
The custom web functionality should provide more flexibility. Also concerning layout etc. Drilldown-like reports or reports with filter functionality would also be helpful.

Scheduling consolidation jobs in Controller Web
Possibility to plan consolidation jobs with a certain frequency, i.e. consolidate on an hourly basis – also in web.
A chat / collaboration feature would be helpful, e.g. in the area of IC reconciliation but also in other areas, e.g. to ask for commenting of certain figures.
Pop-up information for all active users
Pop-up information for all active users to inform in case of necessary down-time etc. This could appear when logging on (to inform in advance) or ad-hoc while people are working – if necessary.
Mail function to inform all users
Possibility to inform all users in one go, e.g. on timeline changes, closing process or structure changes or any other information that needs to be distributed to this audience.
