Cells & writeback
Insert a single cube value, a KPI or narrative text.
Word & PowerPoint: insert, update, and save edits from editable cells back to Planning Analytics. Creating definitions requires author access; writeback requires source write permissions.
Create a cell definition
- Choose Cells → Add
Enter a name and description for the reusable cell.
- Choose the cube and dimensions
Select one member for each required dimension. These identify a single cube intersection. Use report filters for dimensions that should vary.
- Choose the format
Use General, Text, Number, Percentage or Currency. Adjust the available decimal, separator and currency options.
- Save and insert
Check the displayed value and formatting, then save your report.
Narrative text
A text cell can hold a reporting comment or explanation. Supported Markdown formatting can be rendered into Office text. Keep the source text structure consistent when you want later updates to retain your Office styling.
Editable cells
The definition’s Editable checkbox enables the supported cell editing workflow. It does not grant permission to write into TM1.
- Select an editable inserted cell
Edit its supported text content in Office.
- Review the save prompt
When Intito Agentic Disclosure Management (ADM) detects an eligible change, the taskpane shows the change and a Save action.
- Save deliberately
Save writes to the underlying cube intersection using the object’s current context and your source permissions. Confirm the member context before saving.
PowerPoint: check context before Save
Save resolves variable members against the current report filters and object overrides. Check these before saving edited text, especially if you changed filters since the last refresh. This differs from Word’s last-displayed-intersection behavior described below.
Word: save an editable cell
Click inside an inserted Editable cell, edit the text, then use the taskpane Save action. Supported emphasis, links and lists are saved as Markdown. Save targets the intersection last displayed in that cell, even if taskpane filters have since changed. Update the cell first to work at a new intersection. Saving keeps Word formatting and leaves any newer edits in place. Embedded tables, fields, tracked changes and other unsupported rich content stop saving before writeback.
If no Save action appears
Confirm the definition is Editable, the inserted cell is selected and the current content supports editing. Do not assume arbitrary table edits, or chart image edits are writeback. Ask your administrator to check source permissions if saving is rejected.
