Tables & cube views
Create reusable view definitions and choose readable member labels.
For authors · Readers can insert existing definitions.
Create a table definition
- Choose Tables / Charts → Add
The Add button is available to users with object authoring access.
- Complete Name and Description
Use a meaningful display name and describe the purpose or expected context.
- Choose Cube and View
Select the source cube and saved view. Prepare the desired rows and columns in Planning Analytics first.
- Set Dimensions
Choose the context members and mark dimensions that should follow slide/document filters.
- Set labels and display
Under Settings → Row / Column Labels, select the member attributes to display. Leave Display as on Table.
- Save and insert
Save the shared definition, find it in the library and select Insert. Check headings and sample values against the source.
To keep an object-specific query instead of a named view, choose Use MDX. See Views & direct MDX for switching, validation and filter behavior.
Prepare the source layout
The cube view determines which members are on rows and columns. Label attributes change displayed names; they do not move members between axes. Use a focused view that fits the intended slide or page.
- Rows and columns: Determine the table’s structure and ordering.
- Context dimensions: Select the slice of data used by the view.
- Row / Column Labels: Use an alias or attribute for readable member names, where available.
- Zero suppression or changing filters: Can change the returned row or column count. Review the layout after Update.
Edit an existing definition
Use the pencil beside the library object, change its source or settings, then Save. Update inserted instances to apply the changes. Other reports using the same definition may pick up those changes too.
Use the same view as a chart
Change Display as in Settings. The chart library explains the required row and column arrangements. Consider separate definitions when a table and chart need different source layouts.
