Install & open
Set up OfficeConnect on your Windows computer.
Before you begin
- Use Windows desktop PowerPoint or Word with your organization’s supported Office build.
- Obtain the approved OfficeConnect Companion installer from your administrator.
- Have your Workspace URL, TM1 database name and sign-in account ready. If your connection requires a Tenant ID, obtain it from your administrator.
- Your account needs access to the relevant Planning Analytics data and OC library.
Install and launch
- Close Word and PowerPoint
Save your work first. Closing Office lets the installer update the add-in manifests.
- Run the approved companion installer
Follow the installation prompts.
- Open OfficeConnect
Use the installed OfficeConnect desktop shortcut for PowerPoint or Word. If the add-in is already available on your Office ribbon, open its taskpane there.
- Keep the companion running
OfficeConnect uses the local companion while connecting and updating. If the pane cannot reach it, use the installed start/restart shortcut or ask your administrator to check it.
Choose the edition
Standard includes normal reporting. XBRL adds Word tagging, export and the bundled validator. Each download is a standalone MSI. There is no XBRL unlock key. Installing the other edition replaces the current one; installing Standard disables XBRL tools. Both installers target Windows desktop Office, not macOS.
Run the installed shortcuts as your normal Windows user. The startup window waits for companion readiness. On an error, keep the message and log path for support.
Pair if prompted
Some installations show Pair OfficeConnect. Run PairOfficeConnectCompanion.ps1 from the companion installation folder, paste its pairing key and select Pair. Keep the key private. If there is no pairing prompt, continue to connection setup.
If the add-in is missing
Try the installed OfficeConnect shortcut. If your organization deploys add-ins centrally, ask its Microsoft 365 administrator to confirm the assignment. See Opening and installation problems for missing panes and 404 errors.
