What Cata learned outside Intito and why she decided to return as Principal Consultant

This story is about our trusted employee Catarina Asplund who wanted to try spreading her wings outside of Intito but found herself missing something that she couldn't get anywhere else but at Intito.

Cata has an MSc in Economics and she is working at Intito as a Principal Consultant, a team leader and a business owner. Cata's first period of working at Intito lasted 6 years, from 2018 to (summer) 2024, and after one and a half years (at the end of 2025) she returned to Intito.

The moment to leave felt right

In the summer of 2024, Cata felt it was time for her to explore the world beyond Intito. She really wanted to take time to improve her subject matter skills around sustainability. "If I ever want to understand the world of sustainability, it's not enough to spend 3 hours a week working on it", Cata recalls thinking at the time.

About the same time, the EU launched mandatory CSRD sustainability reporting and there was a dire shortage of experts in the field. Sustainability had always interested Cata from a personal point of view. So, because of all this, she decided to explore what working life had to offer her outside of Intito.

Longing for Intito

Then came the Omnibus package, and the EU's CSRD requirements were drastically scaled down, and the dire shortage of experts disappeared from the market. Cata had also noticed that working in-house wasn't right for her; "I realized I was more driven when closer to business and that's when we started talking about my return with Intito."

Also, Cata missed something else at least as much as consulting: the community spirit and her work friends. “It isn’t self-evident to have this kind of an atmosphere that we have here at Intito,” Cata reminds us. “No one here is left alone. For example, when at the office, everyone there is always invited to have lunch together.” Cata continues: “If the absolute worst part about leaving was leaving the ‘Intito family’ behind, returning to it was definitely one of the best parts of coming back.”

The myth that you can’t improve in your comfort zone

Cata describes Intito as an exceptionally close-knit and customer-focused organization. “No one here pushes their own egos and the atmosphere of being and doing is very genuine and low-hierarchical.”

When Cata was thinking about returning to Intito, someone told her that “going back to the old way is not a good idea, because you can’t develop in your comfort zone.” However, Cata wants to dispel this myth: “I personally don't fully agree with this. I feel that it’s easier to build something new on top of a caring and familiar foundation, like the one Intito has provided for me.”
