Your first report in four steps
- Install & open: Set up the companion and open ADM in Office.
- Connect: Choose your Planning Analytics database and sign in.
- Build reports: Add tables, charts, cells and Excel objects to your report.
- Filter & update: Choose the context, refresh, and review the result.
What would you like to do?
- Show a cube view as a table: Tables & views
- Insert a KPI or narrative cell: Cells & writeback
- Make a line, bar, donut, waterfall or card: Chart library
- Reuse a published workbook object: Excel objects
- Manage access or investigate a problem: Users & access · Troubleshooting

Three things to know
- Cube view: The source data layout in Planning Analytics: rows, columns and context dimensions.
- Object definition: A reusable instruction saved in the ADM library: which source to read, which filters to use and how to display it.
- Inserted object: The table, cell or image placed in your presentation or document. Update uses its connection to the definition to refresh it.
Choose the right path
Readers can insert and refresh existing objects. Authors can also create and edit definitions. Administrators manage access. You do not need author access to build a report from existing library objects.
This guide covers ADM workflows in PowerPoint and Word. Example images use demonstration data. Your cubes, views and permissions will differ. Your available objects and actions depend on your permissions.
